Mahasapthamrutham Tablets

Mahasapthamrutham is an elixir or a rasayana (rejuvinative) that sustains ones longevity.  According to classical text caraka samhita (1500 BC-400 AD) a rejuvinative or a rasayana increases the longevity of a person by promoting functions of all the systems.  It retains ones intelligence, memory youthful age, lusture, complexion and voice and gives optimum strength to body.

Mahasapthamrutham is a combination of 7 drugs mentioned in Bhaishyajya Ratnavali such as Amalaki, (Phyllanthus emblica), Haritaki  (Terminalia chebula), Vibhitaki (Terminalia belerica), Yastimadhu (Glycyrriza glabra) and Loha (Purified and oxidized ferrous compound).  Madhuka (Madhuka indica) and Tamalapatra (Cinnamomum tamala) is added to facilitate the other indications mentioned below.  This is taken with Ghee and Honey.

Indications :

Mahasapthamrutham is indicated for daily use as a rasayana preparation without any restriction.  It is very effective in various ailments related to Eye (timira (cataract) naktandhya (night blindness) patala, kaca (advanced stages of cataract), pilla roga)dental disorders, diseases of ear (badhirya (dumbness) karma), Difficult micturition, body swelling, abdominal distention Madhuka (Madhuka indica) and Tamalapatra (Cinnamomum tamala) is an added advantage of this formulation in which madhuka is cooling, and reduces inflammation.  Tamalapatra is very supportive in this formulation and beneficial in curing peenasa (sinusitis), it is mukha-sodhana (cleans mouth) promotes digestion and taste.

As a rasayana (rejuvinative) preparation, Sapta-amruta loham can be used in convalescence  to boost body function.  This can also be taken with milk when honey or ghee is contra indicated in certain aliments.
