Consultations in Ayurvedic Dermatology- By Dr P.M Madhu

This publication presents the Ayurvedic dermatology in a new format by
illustrating 32 skin cases from beginning the consultation to the healing phase of
that case with the details of all the basic and applied aspects used.Thirty two
cases altogether represents most of the clinical variants of skin ailments. The
headings poetically illustrate the major complaint. Diagnosis is given in the
Western mode probably to give more clarity. Its Ayurvedic profile is well
explained in terms of prakriti, dosha, dhatu, srotas, agni and ojus. The
proportionate vitiation of doshas is also assessed. Discussion is added to link the
clinical analysis to therapeutics. Management is arranged in different phases
lasting two, three weeks or even months in accordance with the duration and
severity of the illness. The case description ends with remarks on the response
of the treatment and follow up analysis. This can be illustrated as a systematic
but summerised writing of clinical experiences. In the conclusion author exclaims
that though these are real experiences must be taken as examples. Further lines
can be drawn in the same direction or even in parallel.
